March 8, 2025
Congratulations to Chinese M.A. candidate Tan Xiao, whose research was awarded "Best Student Paper" at the Chinese Language Teachers Association of California's (CLTAC) Spring Conference at Stanford University on March 8. Tan's paper "Two Translations of Geng Louzi by Wen Tingyun", which discussed differences in translation strategy, based on which recommendations were made for the teaching of poetry to language learners, beat out entries from Ph.D. candidates from major research universities to win the coveted award. Congratulations also to Chinese M.A. students Ruan Yanzi and Emily Rong, whose presentations were well-received by language experts in attendance.
