Film: Taste of Cherry

Thursday, October 29 - 9:00 am
Hensill Hall, Room 206

A man's search for a proper burial, as he engages rural people to help him cover up his own suicide. With Taste of Cherry, world renown Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami presents his most stark and beautiful film yet. The central theme of the film involves a man's search for a proper burial, as he engages rural people to help him cover up his own suicide. Working in the minimalist style and sensibility, the film's trudge builds on the viewer, up to an almost unbearable final scene. This movie won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and solidified Kiarostami as one of the world's most important living directors.
