Baran Film Screening

By award winning Iranian director Majid Majidi, comes the story of Baran, a young girl who has sought refuge with her family in Iran after leaving Afghanistan. This film is set in recent times in which there are a large number of Afghan refugees living on the outskirts of Tehran. In a building site in Tehran, Lateef, A 17 year old Kurdish worker is irresistibly drawn to Rahmat, a young afghan worker. The revelation of Rahmat’s secret changes both their lives. This story about romantic love comes from a society which has an enormous cultural store and sensitivity to human love. Much of western notions about romantic love derive from these sources. Refreshments will be served.
