M.A. in East Asian Languages and Literatures [coming soon]

The Master of Arts Program in East Asian Languages and Literatures offers graduate-level training in the literatures, linguistics, and cultures of East Asia, as well as in their applications to professional spheres such as language acquisition, teaching pedagogy, and translation/interpretation. Currently comprising area of emphasis in Chinese and Japanese, the program admits students with near-native proficiency in one of the two languages who hold a bachelor’s degree in Chinese, Japanese, or a related subject area. Students admitted into the program will take courses from a common world language core as well as electives in the areas of linguistics, literature and culture, language acquisition and pedagogy, and professional applications, all designed to inspire and train students in intellectual inquiry, develop their knowledge of East Asian literatures and cultures, and prepare them for success in a world that is ever more culturally interlinked.
